Reading is something I’ve always loved to do, it’s so easy to get lost in a book. The perfect escapism. Since having Emilia I definitely haven’t read enough and I miss it. I just seem to struggle to find the time. It is something however that I would love to get back into. Book recommendation blogs are some of my favourite to read, they are the perfect source of inspiration. One of my favourite recent posts is from Katieflossblog, The books I recommend to everyone.
As I find the inspiration to read more myself I thought I would share a few of my favourite books with you.
The Book Thief – Markus Zusak*
I absolutely love the way this book is written, it is so unique. It’s the story of a young girl who loves books so much she steals them. Narrated by death it is so much more than that though. Set during the second world war, the story of this young girl and her families struggles living through the war.
The Kite Runner – Khaled Hosseini*
This is another powerful book and it is such an emotional rollercoaster. The Kite Runner is the story of 12 year old Amir growing up in Afghanistan. A beautifully written story, it had me gripped from the start. A story of betrayal and redemption. It is fast paced and unpredictable. A great read.
Life of Pi – Yann Martel*
As with the other 2 recommendations this book is beautifully written, and I found it to be extremely clever. The story of a young boy trapped on a lifeboat with a number of animals including a sea sick tiger. The story can be interpreted in so many different ways, a must read. There’s an unexpected twist at the end and honestly it made me just want to go back to the first page and read the book all over again.
There’s so many other books I could write about, I could go on and on, but these are probably 3 of my all time favourites. I would love to get back into reading and sharing my favourites with you has definitely reinvigorated my love for books.
I’d love to hear about some of your favourite all time books or great recent reads. Please drop me a comment with your recommendations and I am going to make it my aim to get back into reading.
